Two die, 20 test positive to H1N1 in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 22 : The death of two people due to H1N1 influenza in Kerala was confirmed even as 20 other more tested positive for swine flu, today.


According to State H1N1 Control room here, Premkumar (54), hailing from Karamana in the city, was admitted to the Trivandrum Medical College a few days ago with fever and cough. He died on July 19 and his death due to H1N1 was confirmed today.

Premalatha (49), hailing from Vattiyoorkavu in the city, was admitted to the Medical College for amputation with history of diabetes. She died the same day and her death due to H1N1 influenza was confirmed today.

Of the 20 new cases, one was from Thiruvananthapuram, four were from Ernakulam, six from Thrissur, two each from Palakkad, Kannur, Kasargode and Wayanad and one from Malappuram.

The total number of patients under hospital quarantine in the state was 22 and under Home Quarantine 251.

According to health officials, the death of a woman owing to deadly H1N1 virus in Kerala was confirmed even as 15 more tested positive for the flu.

They officials stated that Biji (25), a resident of Thenmala in Kollam, was taken to the Trivandrum Medical College a few days back with the diagnosis of Kyphoscoliosis.

Biji lost her life on July 22 and her casualty was confirmed owing to H1N1 on Friday.

Out of the 15 fresh H1N1 cases, four cases were from Ernakulam, seven from Kozhikode, one each from Thrissur, Kannur, Kasargode and Wayanad.

In the meantime, the total number of patients under Hospital Quarantine in Kerala was 15 and under Home Quarantine 289.

Woman dies, 12 test positive for H1N1 in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 25 : The death of a woman due to H1N1 influenza in Kerala was confirmed even as 12 more tested positive for the swine flu, today.


According to the State H1N1 Control Room here, Sameera Shareef (25), hailing from Koduvally in Kozhikode, was admitted to MIMS Hospital there with fever, cough and breathlessness.

She died today and her death was confirmed as due to H1N1.

Of the 12 new cases, four were from Ernakulam, two from Thrissur, one each from Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad, Malappuram, Waynad and Kannur.

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 2 : Fifteen people have tested positive for the dreaded H1N1 influenza in Kerala during the last two days.
According to State H1N1 Control room here today, of the 15 new cases, four each were from Thrissur and Wayanad, three from Kannur, two from Trivandrum and one each from Malappuram and Kottayam.

Total number of patients under hospital quarantine in the state were 13 and under home quarantine 649.

Throat swabs of 31 patients were sent for lab test, it said.

Swine flu: 307 under home quarantine in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 3 : One person from Kottayam district tested positive for Swine Flu in Kerala today.




According to reports, the total number of patients under hospital quarantine in the state was ten and under home quarantine 307.

Throat swabs of 32 patients were sent for lab test, state Swine Flu control room said.

A pregnant woman, a resident of Kannur region, lost her life due to H1N1 virus, and three more tested positive for the deadly flu.

As per health officials, nine-month pregnant Shabana (24) was taken to Kozhikode Medical College with symptoms including fever, cough and breathlessness.

Out of the three new H1N1 flu cases, one each is from Thiruvananthapuram, Wayanad and Kasargod.

The total number of patients under Hospital Quarantine in Kerala stood at 10 and under Home Quarantine 384.

The number of positive cases per day in Kerala has been dropping, but the number of patients in hospital and home quarantine has been staying reasonably stable since mid July. Suggests that the outbreak is continuing, but not growing in intensity. Ro

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 7: Five more people tested positive for H1N1 influenza today.




According to the State H1N1 Control Room here, of the five new cases, three were from Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam and Wayanad and two from Kannur.

Meanwhile, the total number of patients under Hospital Quarantine in the state was 20 and under those under Home Quarantine 414.

The throat swabs of 24 patients were sent for lab test, it said.

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 16 : One more person tested positive for swine flu in Kerala today.


The new case was reported from Wayanad district, according to State H1N1 Control Room here.

The total number of patients under Hospital Quarantine in the state was 15 and the Home Quarantine 314.

Throat swabs of 15 patients were sent for lab test, it said.

Lifer dies in hospital

Kozhikode, Aug 16 : A person serving life term in a murder case died of a respiratory ailment in a hospital in Kozhikode District of Kerala today.


Police said Kunhikrishnan, 50, a native of Palakkad was admitted to the hospital from Kannur Central Prison, died in Kozhikode Medical College early this morning.

He was awarded life term by a fast track court at Kongad in Palakkad District for murdering his wife, police added.

176 more under Home Quarantine in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 26 : Adding to the growing worry over spread of H1N1 influenza, 176 more patients were under Home Quarantine in Kerala today.

According to the State H1N1 Control Room's today, 14 people were also under Hospital Quarantine.

Throat swabs of 17 patients were sent for laboratory test, it said.

A lot of patients have been complaining about H1N1 like symptoms.

The families of those who have been confirmed for the flu have been quarantined, the Health Department sources said.
