MUMBAI: A 25-year-old woman from Virar became the tenth person to succumb to swine flu in the city on Tuesday. Gayatri Pujari, who had a history of
        high blood pressure
, died of complications resulting from sepsis and heart infection at Nair Hospital at 5 pm.

This is the fourth case of a resident of Mumbai's satellite township dying of swine flu after being brought to Mumbai for treatment. TOI had last month pointed out that screening facilities in the satellite townships lag behind those in Mumbai. In Virar there is no screening centre. The nearest is Borivli's Bhagwati Hospital.

Pujari, a resident of Maitri Park, was brought to Kasturba Hospital late on Sunday evening in a critical state. Officials said she had been suffering from fever and breathlessness for a week and was being treated by a private doctor. She was then admitted to Borivli's Apex Hospital on Sunday, from where she was immediately referred to Kasturba.
