    Aseven-month-old malnourished boy died in the Rafiq Nagar area early on Tuesday even as the residents are coming to terms with the death of 16 malnourished children over nine months.



    Asif Unaiz Shaikh, who fell in the Grade II category of malnutrition, had severe cold and fever for several weeks. ?He was under medication for over a week. But his condition deteriorated last night and he died,? said Hamida Khatoon, an activist with local NGO Apnalaya.



    Asif, according to the World Health Organisation?s classification that India follows, was severely malnourished. ?It is yet to be ascertained if he died of malnutrition or had some other complication,? said Dr Pramod Mane, from the BMC team, who was at the spot to investigate the matter.



    Asif is the 17th kid to have succumbed to either prolonged illness or starvation in the past nine months....
