Epidemics loom over flood-hit areas in Khammam

Although the threat of flash floods has eased to some extent in the agency areas under Bhadrachalam and Palvancha divisions, the fear of outbreak of epidemics continue to haunt people living in the flood ravaged areas situated along the banks of the Godavari.
Three persons died of seasonal ailments in Kunavaram, the worst flood-hit mandal, alone in the last two days. Even though the flood level in the Godavari has come down below the second flood warning level at Bhadrachalam on Tuesday evening, the flood water remained stagnant at several low-lying localities in the vicinity of the historical Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy shrine in the temple town.
