    Bird flu confirmed as cause of death for crows in Latur, authorities take preventive measures

    As many as 51 crows have died of bird flu in Maharashtra's Latur district, and authorities have started taking preventive measures to contain the spread of the disease, an official said on Sunday.

    A report from the Bhopal Veterinary Laboratory that arrived on Saturday revealed that the crows in Udgir city have died of avian influenza (H5N1), Deputy Commissioner for Animal Husbandry Dr Shridhar Shinde told PTI. ...

      About 4,200 chicks were found dead in a poultry farm in Latur district in Maharashtra, days after nearly 60 crows succumbed to bird flu, an official said on Thursday, PTI reported.

      The five to six-day-old birds died in the Dhalegaon village, Ahmedpur tehsil, and samples of the carcasses have been sent to the State Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory in Pune's Aundh on Wednesday, he said.​..

            Nagpur on high alert as bird flu outbreak detected in Bada Tajbagh area

            Nagpur: The Second Capital of Maharashtra has once again been hit by H5N1 avian influenza (bird flu) after three poultry samples from Bada Tajbagh tested positive on Wednesday. Authorities have sprung into action, implementing containment measures to curb the spread of the virus.

            Following the detection of the H5N1 virus in a dead rooster, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) swiftly declared a one-kilometre radius in Bada Tajbagh, under Sakkardara Police Station’s jurisdiction, as a bird flu-affected zone. Culling operations of poultry have begun in the area to prevent further transmission....​

              The threat of bird flu is once again increasing in Maharashtra. The administration has become alert after the mysterious death of 6,831 chickens out of 8,000 in a poultry farm in Kherda (Jirapure) village of Karanja taluka. The investigation report on February 27 confirmed that these deaths were due to bird flu infection. After this, the district administration has immediately issued a high alert.

              There has been a continuous death of poultry in the poultry farm from 20 to 25 February. Samples of the dead chickens were sent to a laboratory in Akola for testing. After this, detailed examination was also done at the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases in Pune and the laboratory in Bhopal. On 27 February, the report confirmed the H5N1 virus (bird flu).​..
