Searing heat in Delhi
New Delhi, June 10:
Delhi continued to be in the grip of searing heat today with the mercury hovering around 42 degree Celsius, a day after the capital experienced the hottest day of the summer this year.
The temperature recorded at around 1.30 P.M was 42 degree Celsius, MET office said.
The weatherman forecasts that the temperature could reach as high as 46 degrees Celsius later in the day or tomorrow. Delhi had recorded 44.9 degree Celsius yesterday, the highest of the season so far.
The last time the maximum temperature crossed 45 degrees Celsius was on June 21, 2005.
After a relatively mild May, Delhi has found itself in the grip of a scorching heat wave since the beginning of June, with the temperature staying above 40 degrees Celsius over the last week.
The night time temperature has also been recorded several notches above normal for this time of the year.
