Femte d?dsfallet i svininfluensa
PUBLICERAD 10 NOVEMBER 2009
Fifth death from swine influenza
PUBLISHED NOVEMBER 10 2009
Another person believed to have died of flu. A man in 60s in ?rebro County has died after a respiratory infection. It is the fifth case so far in the country which is linked to the flu.
STOCKHOLM. Man flu is believed to have triggered a heart attack, which was the direct cause of death. A test has shown that the man, who did not belong to any medical division, carried the influenza A/H1N1 virus.
State remains serious but stable for the flu-sick 14-year-old boy who is fully anaesthetized and placed on a ventilator at the county hospital of Kalmar. These are the most likely of swine influenza.
In addition, further nurtured a person, a woman in their 40s, on a respirator in Hudiksvall hospital after being infected with swine flu. The state of the woman, who according to hospital belonging to risk groups and has been difficult to oxygenate itself, is serious.
On Tuesday arrived in 500 000 new doses of vaccine to county councils and receptions. But that is not enough, the demand far exceeds supply. Many counties are now starting to vaccinate school children and children between three and six years. Scania has already done it for some time and now it's Stockholm's turn. But it has also meant that only 18 of 190 health centers in Stockholm County may be vaccinated this week.
Goran Stiernstedt, Director of Local Authorities and Regions (SKL), considers it only right to give priority to the children.
- It is wise to vaccinate as many non-immune individuals as possible, and the absolute minimum of immune children. Everyone can benefit from it because the children are enormous vectors, "he says.
On Tuesday revealed that Hammarby's softball team completed before the vaccination queue. Team doctors took swine influenza vaccine from their work on a vaccine receipt and returned to the players. Henrik Almkvist believe it is contrary to the County Council's directive and condemn the behavior.
In the next week delivered 600 000 vaccine doses from week 48 and delivery is expected to be up in around one million doses per week.
