Rota virus occurs worldwide and can cause a severe diarrheal disease.
Rotavirus is the most commonly diagnosed diarrhea virus in young children in Sweden.
Virus is excreted in feces and vomiting, and the spread of infection occurs mostly from person to person.
The incubation period is one to three days. Course of the disease usually lasts four to six days.
Vaccines are available. No specific treatment exists. The disease is self-healing.

Magnus Berntsson, Christian Democratic regional council member, wrote a motion to introduce vaccination against right Rota virus. On Tuesday, a decision was made to that effect.
