      Influenza Surveillance in Spain.

      Season 2010/2011 (Week-9)

So far, 139 people have died of swine flu (H1N1) and at least 1,305 severe flu cases have been hospitalized since the beginning of the season.

Out of 845 patients with vaccination status available 121 (12%) were vaccinated, 62 cases took the pandemic monovalent vaccine (2009) . At least 10 vaccinated patient have died of pH1N1.

Two pandemic virus present the mutation in the HA1 region D222G; These samples were taken in earlier January 2011 and they are from a pregnant woman, 32, she presented multi-organ failure. The other case was from a woman, 62, without history of vaccination and with underlying health conditions (lung disease), she presented pneumonia.

45 pH1N1 (NA) sequences were analyzed of which one was carrying the mutation H275Y

In the week 9/2011, there were 53,38 cases per 100.000 compared to 81,66 cases per 100.000 population in previous week (8/2011).
