    Died of swine flu

Oslo (AFP): A man from Oppland are confirmed dead of swine flu. He belonged not likely to be one of the risk groups.

The man had been ill for just over a week before his condition deteriorated. He died at home.

    - The man will be obdusert (autopsy,ed) so that we can put on the shoulders what the cause of death was and whether he had an underlying disease. But there is nothing to indicate that the man belonged to some of the risk groups. But it will further investigations reveal, "said Dr. Bjorn Iversen at the NIPH to NTB.

25 people have so far lost their lives because of the flu in Norway. 60 people are hospitalized with the virus, and 13 of them are admitted to intensive care.

      24th or 25th death

A typo at Folkehelseinsituttet's website ( http://www.fhi.no/eway/default.aspx?...1:5569:1:::0:0 ) seems to have created some confusion

Summary of all info given here totals 24 instead of 25. Same number, (24) was also stated to press by Bj?rn Iversen from Folkehelseinstituttet ( http://www.gd.no/nyheter/article4725728.ece )

      .......

      INFO FROM GOVERNMENT WEBSITE, pandemi.no

Helsemyndighetene oppdaterer oversikt over d?dsfall knyttet til influensa A(H1N1) en gang i uken. Nye tall blir publisert p? onsdager.

Re: Norway - Previously healthy man is 24th swine flu death

Thanks Celvin for pointing this out.

It seems not clear if the latest fatality is included in the summary on the Website of the Ministery.

#25 could have come later, after the weekly update?

I just sent an inquiry to Folkehelseinstituttet by e-mail. Hopefully it can be possible to settle the matter soon (I will post info here as soon as I get reply)

Its not that easy to keep track of everyone ...

Of the 25 deaths, 6 appear to be children under 18. That's nearly 25%, which is pretty high compared with the U.S. (I don't have data for other nations yet), where the average is ~14-15%.

The last Norwegian case, the man from Vestfold, was included in last update from Folkehelseinsituttet Thursday afternoon local time (a couple of hours ago)

media have - so far - published just a brief reference

                        Svineinfluensaofrene

13 % of H1N1 deaths in Sweden occured among those under 20 years, 2 out of 15 (2 3-year old boys)

                          In Norway, 6 out of 25 were under 20, thats 24 %

                          The 6 Norwegians were 2 1/2 years, 9, 10, 12, 16 and 17 years old

                          Also Germany has a high number of young people among deceased. Some days ago, out of a total of 34, 11 were under 20 (32 %) - ages 0, 5, 5, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 17, 18
