  • Latvian 119 confirmed influenza cases

    Since December 9, when the Latvian was laboratory confirmed this season first so-called swine flu, laboratory examination 796 samples, of which 119 confirmed influenza cases, informed the Latvian Infectology Centre (LIC), deputy director of medical issues Velga Ķūse.

    LIC is currently treated in hospital, 10 patients with laboratory confirmed influenza A virus, influenza B, one patient and five patients with suspected influenza, but it has not yet been laboratory confirmed. LIC from the hospital has already drawn 28 flu patients, most of which were confirmed H1N1, the so-called swine flu.
    After the recent influenza monitoring data being influenza epidemiological Latvian threshold has been exceeded. Influenza monitoring data of family doctors' practices are collected once a week, on Mondays.
