Mortality trend for influenza A/H1N1pdm virus infections
The surveillance system for the mortality describes the epidemiology of deaths for influenza virus A/H1N1v, also in terms of risk factors and for possible changes in the course of the epidemic
- last week (1-7 March) there were 2 deaths because of the influenza A/H1N1v. In total, since the beginning of the epidemic, there were 241 deaths. Of these, 41.5% were women.
- the age groups most affected: individuals between 15 and 44 years (34% of deaths) and persons between 45 and 64 years (33%)
- the region most affected is the Campania with 22% of all deaths. Puglia has reported 15% of the total deaths, Piedmont and Sicily, both 10%, Calabria and Lazio, 6% of deaths each. Two regions (Valle d'Aosta and Sardinia) have not reported any deaths.
- 81% of deaths occurred in persons who had at least one risk condition.
