Visiting restrictions remain in place at three major hospitals this evening.
Medical chiefs hope the move will stop the flu virus spreading to vulnerable patients.
Mercy University Hospital in Cork says it will make an exception for visitors to its children's ward and critical care areas.
Cork University Hospital is to decide later if restrictions need to be continued there tomorrow.
At St James's Hospital in Dublin, visiting remains closed while planned admissions are 'severely curtailed' to allow for critical admissions. Day ward, out patient and diagnostic services will operate as usual tomorrow.
The hospital says "any person with flu-like illness is urged to remain at home and to contact their GP by telephone for advice."
