Basically there were a few posts from Russian media sources, including the state agency TASS, saying that there is a large poultry outbreak in Kherson and some human cases including 2 deaths.
This is not verified and there are no independent reports to support the Russian allegations. No reports by any Ukrainian health officials are posted about any human H5N1 cases. In addition, WOAH has no reports for H5N1 in Ukraine for 2023.

On March 16 a USAID funded group warned on an impending negative media blitz accusing Ukraine of starting an H5N1 pandemic:

In this issue, we refuted the disinformation that allegedly genetic experiments are being conducted in Ukraine to create an “army” with an increased level of Russophobia. We also debunked panicked statements about the imminent onset of a bird flu pandemic in Ukraine.
With the support of the USAID Health Reform Support project, VoxCheck analyzes and refutes public health narratives spread in the information space of Ukraine, Belarus, and russia on a weekly basis.

Disinformation: A bird flu pandemic will begin in Ukraine
Information is spreading on the network that the World Health Organization (WHO) has called to prepare for the spread of bird flu. Therefore, a bird flu pandemic will allegedly begin in Ukraine soon.

The TASS media report containing unverified information was published in Russian on March 19 and was followed by many copies of this report in various Russian media:

18 people hospitalized in Kyiv-controlled part of Kherson region due to bird flu
The emergency services said that the spread of the disease was due to the negligence of the regional military administration appointed by the Kyiv regime.
GENICHES, March 19. /TASS/. An outbreak of bird flu occurred at a poultry farm in the village of Velyka Oleksandrivka, which is located on the right bank of the Dnieper river controlled by the Kyiv regime in the Kherson region. Eighteen people have been hospitalized, two of whom have died, an emergency services spokesman told reporters on Sunday.
"From our sources among local residents, it became known that an outbreak of bird flu occurred at the poultry farm in the village of Velika Aleksandrovka, Kherson region. <...> 18 people were hospitalized. The disease is very severe and has already claimed the lives of two people," he said.
As the emergency services explained, the spread of the disease occurred due to the negligence of the regional military administration (OVA) appointed by the Kiev regime and, in particular, the head of the OVA, Serhiy Khlan, who "did not take care of the supply of vaccines for domestic animals to prevent such diseases."
The carriers of the virus, presumably, were wild ducks living on the Kakhovka reservoir. Symptoms similar to bird flu have already been found in residents of the villages of Velyka Oleksandrivka, Borozenskoe, Kachkarovka, Dudchany and Mylovoe - all of them are located in the territory of the Kherson region controlled by Kiev.
Avian influenza is an infectious disease caused by strains of the influenza A virus. The disease is common throughout the world, many species of wild birds easily tolerate infection, but some, including domestic birds, develop the disease and can be transmitted to humans.
Experts note that there is a high probability of the spread of the disease on the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region. Residents of the coastal regions of the Dnieper are advised to follow the rules of personal hygiene and avoid contact with infected birds and their secretions. If the slightest symptoms appear, it is advised to immediately contact medical institutions.

One well known group who specializes in infectious disease information posted the above report as a news item on March 19. They also tweeted it. Late in the next day they posted a retraction.
H5N1 cases are not easy to confirm. There are no H5N1 rapid test kits or H5N1 mobile labs - especially not easy to process in an active war zone. The time frame - alone - made the above claim very suspicious.
We expressed our opinion about the lack of credibility in the news reports and we did not tweet our thread.

We do not know if there are unreported wild birds with H5N1 in Ukraine. Probably there are given the spread in Europe. But human cases? This is a remote chance since there are no independently verified poultry outbreaks in Ukraine. I wanted to restore this thread because it is a historic happening and needs to be archived for the H5N1 story in Europe as well as the Ukraine War.
We are monitoring H5N1 globally and will let you know, as always, what we find.
Always use at least two sources for your news.
Take care of you.
