      The Chief Veterinary Officer informs about the detection of outbreaks No. 24-25 in 2024 of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) of the H5N1 subtype in poultry, based on the results of laboratory tests received from the National Veterinary Institute - National Research Institute (PIWet - PIB) in Puławy.

      HPAI outbreak No. 24 was confirmed based on laboratory test results from March 1 this year. on a commercial farm with 8,035 slaughter turkeys in the town of Kamień Duży, Iława commune, Iława poviat, province. Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

      HPAI outbreak No. 25 was confirmed based on laboratory test results from March 2 this year. on a commercial farm with 44,709 turkeys for slaughter in Nowa Wieś, Iława commune, Iława poviat, province. Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

      The Veterinary Inspection implements all disease control measures in accordance with the procedures resulting from national law and Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/687 of 17 December 2019 supplementing Regulation (EU) 2016/429 of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to the rules on prevention certain listed diseases and their control.

      In the territory of the Republic of Poland, since January 1, 2024, 25 HPAI outbreaks have been detected in poultry, 3 HPAI outbreaks in captive birds and 11 HPAI outbreaks in wild birds.​

            The Center for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department announced today (October 28) that in response to a notification from the World Organization for Animal Health regarding an outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in Poznan District, Wielkopolska Province, Poland, the Center has immediately instructed the trade The import of poultry meat and poultry products (including poultry eggs) from the region is suspended to protect public health in Hong Kong.​
