  • Italy - avian flu near Florence

Here we go again with bird flu. Just so we don't miss anything. The territory of Montelupo Fiorentino falls within the radius of the surveillance area (10 km) due to an outbreak detected in Scandicci. It was the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Tuscany that communicated a positivity for avian flu on carcasses from a farm. It is explained that highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses have caused epidemics of particular gravity over the years, demonstrating the ability to spread rapidly among poultry farms as well as represent a zoonotic risk, that is, with species leaps towards humans.
