      • On 4 October 2010, the National Diagnostic and Research Veterinary Institute (NDRVI) in Sofia informed the National Veterinary Service (NVS) of Bulgaria about West Nile fever serological positive samples taken from 5 donkeys bred in the North-East part of Bulgaria. The results obtained showed possible circulation of West Nile virus in the area. The NVS immediately ordered sampling of equine for serological testing and research for clinical signs for West Nile fever in the area concerned.
