CDC http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/westnile/index.htm has not yet begun compiling human case data for 2012. Cases in animals are making the news indicating that transmission has begun:
Horse put down after contracting West Nile Virus
HARRISBURG (PA) -- A horse has been euthanized due to an active case of West Nile in Northampton County.
This case heralds the arrival of West Nile Virus in 2012 and is the earliest report of a horse illness since the disease reached Pennsylvania in 2000, according to Kevin Sunday, spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. This case also serves as a reminder to vaccinate horses against the virus.

The California Department of Public Health maintains an excellent website on WNV. They are reporting 3 dead birds from 3 counties with WNV so far in 2012.
