Thanks, mixin! It looks like we might end up with more cases in 2014 than 2013 if the trend continues.

      You're welcome

I'm not sure how they are comparing...I assumed those stats are comparing the first 2 quarters of this year to the first 2 quarters of last year? If that's so, then the cases are down, except in E.S. Central.

I'd like to know how many of them are drug resistant.

I was assuming the 2013 cumulative numbers were for the whole year. It would make more sense as far as usefulness for rough comparison purposes if the cumulative numbers were the first 2 quarters so I'd bet you are right.

Re: MMWR Stats For Tuberculosis, Second Quarter 2014

If I'm right, it's only by chance.

Looks like cases are increasing this year over last year:

Area, 2nd quarter, cum current year, cum previous year:
          Code:
          U.S.	1088	2620	4529 2nd quarter 2013
          U.S.	1850	3510 4315 2nd quarter 2014

I went back and looked at the 1st quarter of this year; here it is. I included the 2nd quarter for easier comparison.

          April 5, wk 14 (Apr 4, volumn 63)
          Code:
          Area 1st qtr, cum '14, cum '13

          U.S. 1157 1157	1259 1st quarter
          U.S. 1850	3510	4315 2nd quarter

          N. England	46	46	42
