    SARS: A decade on, the victims remain in pain, March 1, 2013 Editor's pick: The outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in the spring of 2003 terrified the entire nation of China. SARS patients were once struck by pain, torture and despair. Ten years after the epidemic, there are still some 300 SARS patients who managed to survive in Beijing. Society seems to have forgotten their existence, leaving them struggling to carry on.

Thousands lost their lives, including medical workers all over the world who selflessly looked after patients in spite of the high risks of infection.
