    The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

    The spokesperson for Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) made the following announcement today (August 20):

    Six patients (aged 29 to 56) in a male ward of CPH have presented with fever and flu symptoms since August 16.

    Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patients. Test results of five patients were positive for Human Influenza A (H3) while the result of the remaining patient is pending.

    The patients are being treated under isolation and all are in stable condition.

    Admission to the ward has been suspended.

    Restricted visits to and discharge from the ward have been imposed and infection control measures have been stepped up. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

    The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.

    The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

    Regarding an earlier announcement on six patients of a male ward in Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) being infected with Human Influenza A (H3), the spokesperson for the CPH issued the following update today (August 22):

    One more patient, aged 54, in the male ward had presented with fever and flu symptoms. Appropriate viral test was arranged and the test result is still pending. The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition. Admission to the ward is suspended. Restricted visits to and discharge from the ward are imposed and infection control measures have been stepped up. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

    The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.

      One more patient (aged 51) in the ward has presented with fever and flu symptoms.

      Appropriate viral tests were arranged for him.

      Test results are still pending.

      The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition. Admission to the ward is suspended. Restricted visits to and discharge from the ward have been imposed and infection control measures have been stepped up.

      All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

      The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
