Investigation of an Outbreak of Cyclosporiasis in the United States
A. Upcoming APHL National PHL Teleconference: Diagnostic Algorithm for Cyclospora
Over the past few months, a large outbreak of Cyclospora cayetanensis has been confirmed in the United States. The diagnosis of Cyclospora cayetanensis is based upon the morphologic characteristics of oocysts found in stool specimens. This webinar will address the importance of using fluorescence microscopy for rapid and efficient diagnosis of Cyclospora, the significance of using molecular techniques for confirmatory testing, and the need for epidemiologic surveillance.
