A Fresno State student diagnosed with Meningitis

Fresno, Calif. - A Fresno State student has been diagnosed with Meningococcal Meningitis. The disease affects the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, that's according to the Centers for Disease Control and prevention. The school sent out a release Wednesday, saying the university is working with the Fresno County Department of Public Health to protect students and staff. The health department just confirmed to us the student does not live on campus had been hospitalized and is recovering.
The health department says, so far, about 72 students are on a list to receive a one-pill antibiotic to treat the infection. The school is currently identifying students who may have been exposed, then plans to email those students. The school is also asking students to look for symptoms over the next two weeks...
