In the last four weeks, leptospirosis has caused 19 deaths, reaching 74 in 2016, while in that period 210 suspected cases were reported for a total of 752 at the national level last year.

In the last week the system recorded 38 new suspected cases of leptospirosis.

The highest number of cases have been recorded in Puerto Plata, Santiago that were affected by floods last November. Also notified in Montecristi and Espaillat.

According to the bulletin corresponding to Week 51 of 2016, from the Directorate General of Epidemiology (DIGEPI) of the Ministry of Health, deaths from dengue decreased from 108 in 2015 to 38 in 2016, representing 70 deaths less. Meanwhile, the incidence of the disease in 2016 was reduced to 61%, compared to 2015.

In the week 51, 15 probable cases of dengue, corresponding to residents in the provinces Hermanas Mirabal, National District, Santo Domingo, La Romana, Santiago, Espaillat, Montecristi, San Crist?bal, S?nchez Ram?rez and La Altagracia were reported.

As for the zika, Public Health reports that in the last four weeks seven cases were reported suspected of the disease, reaching during the past year 5,241 cases, of which 952 correspond to pregnant women in the first semester of gestation.

In addition, 285 cases of Guillain Barr? Syndrome with a history of Zika's disease and 22 infants with microcephaly in which Zika virus infection was confirmed have been reported.
