Hep A outbreak hits our region

FIVE people have been diagnosed with hepatitis A in the Loddon Mallee region this year.
It follows an outbreak of the disease, which has seen one person die, 42 confirmed cases statewide, one further probable case and an extra 22 under early investigation.
Victoria?s deputy chief health officer Brett Sutton said the death was associated with an outbreak of hepatitis A where more people had become infected in the past two months.
All cases are male and an increasing number are in people who inject drugs.
