FRANKLIN CO. - The Benton-Franklin Health District has confirmed a human case of St. Louis Encephalitis in Franklin County.

SLE is a viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes and, while it is rare in Washington, the health district said it can occasionally happen due to travel or local mosquitoes.

The case confirmation is from the summer of 2023. The health district said recent frosts and decrease in area temperatures has lowered the risk to people in Franklin County and surrounding areas significantly...
