    Updated to Jan 8th.
The Epidemiology Unit was established in 1959 with assistance from World Health Organization (WHO) to strengthen surveillance of communicable diseases. Initially, the unit functioned with a WHO consultant and a national counterpart, who, after further training in epidemiology, was appointed in 1961, as the Epidemiologist of the Department of Health Services.

    January: 837

The Epidemiology Unit no longer reports fatalities. Official %cfr over the past few years has decreased from 0.65% in 2010 to 0.61% in 2011 to 0.41% in 2012 to 0.28% in 2013 to 0.21% in 2014 and a preliminary 0.2% in 2015. This would allow an estimate of between 1 and 5 fatal cases so far in 2016, with the official figure on the lower side of this estimate.
