by Jonathan Chia, reporters@theborneopost.com. Posted on February 7, 2013, Thursday

KUCHING: There are still no signs to indicate that dengue cases in the state are dwindling despite measures taken by the Health Department to destroy Aedes mosquitoes.

State Health Department deputy director (Public Health) Dr Jamilah Hashim said as of Feb 5, 2013, a total of 256 dengue cases were reported, compared to only 84 cases during the same period last year.

by Anthony Aga, reporters@theborneopost.com. Posted on February 26, 2013, Tuesday

SARIKEI: The sharp rise in number of dengue cases reported in this district in the first two months of this year is a cause of concern for the District Dengue Epidemic Committee.

He said when they carried out a ?gotong royong? cleaning exercise to check the outbreak of the disease last week, the number of cases reported in the
division was 31, with 12 each reported in Sarikei and Pakan districts, two in Julau and five in Meradong.

?Just within a week, today (yesterday), the number of dengue cases reported in the division is 52 ? 21 in Sarikei, Meradong (8), Pakan (20) and Julau (3),? he disclosed.

Pointing out that the rise was worrying, he said any area with two cases reported within 14 days was declared a dengue outbreak (epidemic) area...
