A private autopsy performed on Tricia Seuraj has confirmed that she died of dengue haemorrhagic fever.
This confirmation from Seuraj's husband, Richard Rambharose, comes even as the Ministry of Health and St Clair Medical Centre argue about policy and procedure in dealing with dengue cases...".

A 58-year-old man died today at the San Fernando General Hospital after being treated for symptoms of suspected dengue.
The death of Hamiff Ali, of Calcutta Settlement No 2, Freeport has
triggered a health alert in his hometown, with the Ministry of Health ordering that the area be sprayed to limit the number of mosquitoes breeding in the area.

Three confirmed dengue deaths since last year

THERE have been three confirmed dengue deaths and six suspected dengue deaths in Trinidad and Tobago since January of last year.
This is according to information from the San Fernando General Hospital which showed that the three confirmed deaths included a 14-year-old who died during the period July to September last year, a 61-year-old individual between January and March this year, and 59-year-old Haniff Ali who died this month. All patients were male.

Of the nine persons who died within the periods, three were teenagers, one was 13, two 14-year-olds and one female. The oldest patient was 61.

Health Minister Dr Fuad Khan says two children have been diagnosed with neuro dengue at the Paediatric Emergency Department, Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope. Dengue is spread by the Aedes Egypti mosquito.
Neuro dengue is characterised by high fevers and fits. He also said since ?there was no vaccine to fight dengue? it was essential to keep one?s surroundings clean. Meanwhile, Khan gave the public the assurance children were not affected by H1N1 (Swine Flu) and at the ?end of the day it was under control?...
Woman dies from dengue fever

Tobago has recorded its first dengue-related death for 2013. Tobago News has confirmed that a woman in her mid-forties succumbed to dengue haemorrhagic shock syndrome at the Scarborough General Hospital a week ago.
The woman visited the hospital on the advice of a private doctor and was immediately admitted to the facility. However, she died 48 hours later.
There have been reports of an increased number of dengue cases in Tobago, but County Medical Officer of Health, Dr Viswanath Partapsingh explained that this is normal for the rainy season. He said that the increase in dengue cases during this time of year has also been observed in other countries of the world where dengue exists.

Dengue Figures less than last year

TOBAGO?s County Medical Officer for Health is stressing that the island is not facing a dengue fever epidemic.
Speaking to Tobago News, Dr. Viswanath Partapsingh says there have been fewer suspected cases of the tropical disease on Tobago than last year.
He says up until November 16th, there have been 281 clinically suspected cases, 21 less than last year.There have been reports of an increased number of dengue cases in Tobago, but Dr. Partapsingh says that this was normal for the rainy season.

Litter wardens and public health officers in Couva intend to take an aggressive approach to stamp out the deadly aedes aegypti mosquito which spreads the dengue virus. There were 93 reported dengue cases and one fatality linked to the virus last month in Chaguanas. Couva North MP Ramona Ramdial has given public health officers and litter wardens ?permission to ?buff up? residents to keep their homes and surroundings clean.?...
