Fewer people with dengue fever hospitalised
                By Melissa Pang
                The Straits Times
                Monday, Apr 01, 2013

SINGAPORE - So much is known about dengue fever now that just four in 10 patients were hospitalised last year, compared with six in 10 during the last epidemic in 2007.

This may have come from doctors gaining a better understanding and so referring fewer patients to hospitals, as well as more stringent admission criteria at hospitals.

Ministry of Health figures show in 2007, 55.7 per cent of dengue patients were admitted to the public hospitals, compared with 39.9 per cent last year. And in the first 11 weeks of this year, about a quarter of dengue cases have been admitted to public hospitals compared with 38.5 per cent in the same period last year...
