Royal Columbian Hospital dealing with C. difficile outbreak

METRO VANCOUVER -- After a scheduled two-week "superclean" began there Monday, New Westminster's Royal Columbian Hospital announced it has been dealing with an outbreak of the potentially deadly C. difficile infection for at least two days.
A general ward, which sees many different types of patients, and an acute elderly care unit are closed to admissions as they fight 12 new cases, five of which involve patients that are still symptomatic. No one may transfer out of those wards until they are symptom-free for 72 hours, according to the Fraser Health Authority...
