    Dr Daniel Iya, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Health, says the state has recorded five cases of measles.

    Iya disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Wednesday in Lafia on efforts at curbing communicable diseases.

    Vakkai told newsmen on Wednesday in Jalingo that majority of those affected were children below five years, who had not been vaccinated.

      Kebbi confirms 656 fresh cases of Measles outbreak

      The Kebbi Government on Friday said it had recorded 656 suspected cases of measles in 21 local government areas of the state.

      The Executive Secretary, State Primary Health Care and Development Agency, Dr Mannir Jega, who described the figure as alarming, said it was largely due to refusal of residents to go for routine immunisation.

      The executive secretary said at a news briefing in Birnin Kebbi, that the state had recorded poor coverage due to low turnout for routine immunizations in previous campaigns in 2016.

      ?We have 656 Measles cases in the 21 LGAs in the state, out of which 77 cases had been confirmed in 12 LGAs and the victims were treated and discharged,? he said...

        17 children die of whooping cough, measles in Kano

        An outbreak of whooping cough and measles has claimed the lives of 17 children in Kiru local government area of Kano state.
        The affected children are under the age of five in the two communities of Kiru, where eleven died of whooping cough and six of the outbreak of measles.
        The incidents happened in Kankwana and Dashi communities in Dangora ward of the local government local.
        A council health official Mallam Hassan Adamu confirmed the development in the community.
        According to him, ?efforts are in the pipeline for immediate medical support to the affected communities.?

          Bauchi Records 507 Cases of Measles Outbreak

          No fewer than 507 suspected cases of measles have been recorded in Bauchi State from January to October 2017.
          This was disclosed recently by Measles Consultant with World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr. Bezu Bashir, while speaking at a sensitisation meeting with the media and MDA?s in preparation for the 2017 measles vaccination campaign organised by Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA).

          According to him, out of the 507 suspected cases reported, 56 were positive while 162 specimen were collected, adding that they had outbreak of measles disease in 12 local government areas in the state this year.
          The local governments without outbreaks are Bogoro, Dass, Katagum, Kirfi, Shira, Ningi, TafawaBalewa and Toro while Gamawa, Ganjuwa, ItasGadau , Giade, Misau, Kirfi, Shira, Ningi, and Toro recorded outbreak...
