    Updated April 3, 2025 | 9:21 PM CST
Chihuahua Health authorities are maintaining epidemiological surveillance and recommending that the population get vaccinated against measles.

The Chihuahua Health Secretariat confirmed the first case of measles in Ciudad Juárez, bringing the total to 130 positive cases across the state, all imported from the United States.

The new case, according to health authorities, is that of an infected girl. The girl had contact with at least 300 people, and therefore a health cordon was activated to identify further infections of the disease, which has already spread to 11 of the state's 67 municipalities.

Rogelio Covarrubias, director of the health jurisdiction in Ciudad Juárez, spoke about the situation:

This is the case of a one-year-and-eleven-month-old girl who was diagnosed on March 23rd. After an exhaustive study, it was determined that the child had approximately 250 or 300 contacts.

Furthermore, the head of the health jurisdiction in Ciudad Juárez reviewed the infections in the state and noted that "we currently have 130 cases, 130 cases in different locations."

Authorities urge the population to get vaccinated against measles.

HERMOSILLO, SONORA. APRIL 3, 2025.- The positive measles case in Sonora is stable, recovering, and contact investigations continue to rule out contagion, reported Universo Ortiz Arballo, Director of Epidemiology in Sonora.

Fortunately, the confirmed case did not require hospitalization, has had no complications, and is at home.

“Regarding the vaccination campaign, we don't have specific data because we're still in the identification process, but actions are being taken, and the Ministry of Health is working with all health institutions. "Staff from the Santa Ana Jurisdiction, the Regular Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Isssteson, and ISSSTE are working in coordination on this fence; it's a joint effort," he emphasized.

Ortiz Arballo mentioned that the staff is identifying all the people the patient lived with in the last 8 days, to monitor them for 21 days, which is the incubation period for the virus, but they have not found any new suspected cases.

If you are traveling to high-risk areas like the US, get vaccinated against measles, a doctor recommends.

People traveling to high-risk areas who do not know whether they have been vaccinated or not, or who are over 35 years of age, are advised to go to health institutions to receive the vaccine.

Currently, he said, there is sufficient supply of the vaccine to cover the demand, so it is ideal for anyone traveling to Texas or other high-risk areas to get vaccinated. with cases go to any health sector unit, regardless of your entitlement status.
