    ​EDMONTON — Alberta is reporting six more confirmed cases of measles, bringing the province's total since the beginning of March to 83.

    The province says four of the new cases are in central Alberta, and the other two are in the province's south.

    It says the majority of cases involve children between five and 17 years old.

    Provincial data shows at least eight people have been hospitalized.​..

      AHS issues warning for potential measles exposure at 3 Edmonton area medical clinics

      Alberta Health Services has issued a warning regarding a confirmed case of measles in Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan.

      AHS said Monday evening that an individual had been confirmed to have measles, and confirmed that the individual attended three different medical clinics between April 10 and 14.

      Anyone who was at the following locations at the approximate times may have been exposed to measles.

      April 10
      Kinder Care Medical Clinic
      Unit 205, 11125 107 Avenue NW, Edmonton
      Between 1:45 p.m. and 4:38 p.m.
      April 11
      Ross Creek Medical Imaging
      #103 10101 86 Avenue, Fort Saskatchewan
      Between 7:05 a.m. and 11 a.m.
      April 14
      ROKband Pediatric Headshape Clinic
      #402 9945 50 St NW, Edmonton
      Between 9 a.m. and noon..

        Health officials in Alberta are reporting 29 new cases of measles, bringing the province's total to 118 since early March.

        The government says many of the new cases are in Alberta's south and central zones, seven are in the north and one is in Edmonton.

        Alberta Health Services says people may have been exposed to the highly contagious disease at three medical clinics in the Edmonton area earlier this month.

        The health authority says people may have been exposed at the Kinder Care Medical Clinic in Edmonton on April 10, the Ross Creek Medical Imaging Clinic in Fort Saskatchewan on April 11, and the ROKband Pediatric Headshape Clinic in Edmonton on April 14.

        A similar warning has been issued for the Peace River emergency department, where people may have been exposed to measles on April 15 and 16.​..

          ​The number of reported measles cases in Alberta has reached 210, the majority of which are contained in the southern region of the province.

          As of May 2, the province has reported 106 cases in southern Alberta, with 72 in the central region and 20 in the north.

          Seven cases are reported to come from Calgary, with the remaining five in Edmonton.

          Out of the 210, 121 have been diagnosed in children and teenagers, aged five to 17-years-old, and 58 cases have been recorded among children under five years old.​..

            Alberta Health Services has confirmed additional new cases of measles in the central zone.

            Officials say at least one of the new cases were in public settings while infectious and more locations may be released if needed.

            Individuals who were in the following locations during the specified dates and times may have been exposed to measles:

            April 28

            Two Hills Medical Clinic

            5019 51 St Unit #2, Two Hills, AB

            Exposure time period: Approx. 8:50 am – 10:50 am (MST)

            April 30

            Subway

            4121 51st St Unit 101, Vermilion, AB

            Exposure time period: Approx. 6:30 pm – 8:50 pm (MST)

            Anyone who attended these locations at these times, who was born in or after 1970 and has less than two documented doses of measles-containing vaccine, is at risk for developing measles. They should self-monitor themselves of symptoms of measles and are strongly encouraged to review their immunization records.​

              ​Alberta Health Services (AHS) has confirmed another case of measles in the Edmonton Zone and is alerting the public to a potential exposure at a movie theatre in south Edmonton.

              According to AHS, the individual with the confirmed case was contagious while visiting Cineplex Odeon South Edmonton Cinemas on the night of April 26 between 8:30 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. Anyone who was at the theatre during that time could have been exposed to the highly contagious virus.​..

                    Individuals who were in the Emergency Department waiting room at the Taber Health Centre May 2 between 7:58-11:58 p.m., was born in or after 1970 and has fewer than two documented doses of measles-containing vaccine, may be at risk for developing measles.​..

                        AHS warn of more areas possibly exposed with measles

                        Alberta Health Services (AHS) is warning the public about locations possibly exposed to measles after individuals suffering from the disease while still infectious entered them in early May.

                        This comes after the latest government report added 13 more cases in the province, bringing the total to 326. Of those cases, 23 are known to be communicable.

                        AHS said Saturday that those areas being warned about are in Taber, Whitecourt, and Grimshaw, which are in the AHS South and North zones.

                        The following areas in the North Zone are:

                        The Whitecourt Wild Rose Carnival on May 2 from 3:30-8 p.m.
                        The IGA on 4802 – 51 Street in Whitecourt on May 4 from 12-2:45 p.m.
                        The Grimshaw Chiropractic Care Centre at 5016 – 54 Avenue on May 6 from 9-11:45 a.m.

                        The following area in Taber in the South Zone is:

                        The No Frills at 150 Barton Drive on May 3 from 12-6 p.m...

                          Measles cases in Alberta rise with majority in province’s south

                          There are 39 more cases of measles in Alberta.

                          In the latest update Monday, the province says 30 of them are in the south zone, three in central Alberta and six in the north, though only 14 are believed to still be contagious.

                          It brings the provincial total to 365 since the beginning of March, with around two thirds of all the cases, 230, in the southern zone.

                          Of the total cases, 295 are in children under 18 and 70 are in adults. Only 14 of the cases are believed to be communicable.​...
