    The latest potential measles exposure locations in Fort St. John

    Northern Health is warning residents of Fort St John and Northeast BC that exposure to the measles virus may have been possible on four separate occasions in Fort St. John between November 24th and 28th.

    Exposure may have been possible within the Enterprise Car Rentals location on 89th Ave on Monday November 24th, between 8am and 7pm.

    Exposure to the measles virus may also have been possible within the Fort St. John Hospital Emergency Department on November 26th from 11am to 2:30pm, and again the following two days on November 27th and 28th from 11:45 p.m. to 3:15 a.m.​..

      PRINCE GEORGE — Northern Health is reporting new potential measles exposure locations in Prince George.

      Two occurred at the Urgent and Primary Care Centre at Parkwood Place on November 18 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. and again on December 2 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Another occurred at UNBC (various buildings) on December 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m...

          BC CDC warns of another possible measles exposure in Fort St. John

          The BC Centre For Disease Control (BC CDC) is reporting a new potential measles exposure in Fort St. John.

          The BC CDC said it happened on December 8th at the North Peace Cultural Center, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.

          Health officials say that anyone who was at the Cultural Center during that time, may have been exposed to the highly contagious virus.​..

            Six months after a measles outbreak began in northeast B.C., Northern Health says the virus will continue to circulate in the region well into 2026, prolonging the strain on healthcare workers and keeping vulnerable people at risk.

            As of Dec. 29, the B.C. Centre for Disease Control reported 338 confirmed and probable cases across northern B.C. The vast majority, 317 cases, have been in the northeast region around Fort St. John, where community transmission still shows no sign of slowing down.

            Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Jong Kim says he expects to see five to 10 new cases a week in the region in the new year.

            “It's understandably put a lot of pressure in the healthcare system, healthcare workers as well as the community,” he said. “That level of fatigue and the challenges, in addition to other challenges we are having, is a concern.”​...

              FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Seven months after measles was confirmed in northeast B.C., the province has experienced more than 400 cases.

              Measles has been present in Canada since 2024, starting in New Brunswick in October of that year and spreading across the country.

              In 2025, Northern Health first reported a case of a “measles-like illness” in School District 60 on June 5th.​..

                Northeast B.C. starts 2026 by confirming 11 new measles cases
                The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) has reported 11 new confirmed measles cases in its first case count update of 2026, all of which came from northeast B.C.

                ​FORT ST. JOHN. B.C. — Northern Health has reported more than 10 new cases of measles in northeast B.C. in the new year.

                According to the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) January 8th report, 11 new confirmed cases of measles have been reported by Northern Health since the December 29th report.

                All the cases originated from northeast B.C., and brought the region’s case count to 305.​..

                  ​The spread of the measles continues to slow as the BC Centre for Disease Control is reporting 2 new cases across British Columbia.

                  Both of the new cases that have been reported since January 16 are from Northeast BC. That brings the region’s total number of cases to 313. 81 percent of BC’s 408 cases are from the Northeast.​..

                        Health officials say the potential exposure happened on January 22 at the Montney Mennonite Church located on 12537 256 Road.

                        Northern Health says those who visited the church between 10 am and 2 pm may have been exposed to the virus, and to monitor for symptoms if exposed.​..

                          ​The BC Centre for Disease Control has identified two new possible measles exposure locations in Fort St. John.

                          The health agency said anyone who visited McDonalds Restaurant on the Alaska Highway from 1:00pm to 3:45pm on March 17, may have been exposed to measles.

                          The BC CDC said the other possible exposure site is the Home 2 Suites Hotel on 111th Street, on March 17.

                          The BC CDC has not reported a new case of the measles in Northeast BC since February 26th.

                          The health agency says the measles is still circulating in the North Peace Region.​..
