Queensland Health issues alert after three measles cases attend Jelly Roll concert at Brisbane Entertainment Centre
              By Arianna Levy

A public health alert has been issued for people who attended a US country-rap artist's concert in Brisbane last month after a measles outbreak in Queensland.

Queensland Health confirmed three cases of measles have been linked to the Jelly Roll concert on Friday, October 24 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre at Boondall.

The concertgoers spent time in several locations while unknowingly infectious, including on the Gold Coast and Wide Bay areas.

The Brisbane concert was one of several legs in Jelly Roll's first Australian tour which also saw a surprise show added in Townsville for the Sunburnt Country music festival.

The alert comes days after the rapper cancelled his final show in Auckland, New Zealand due to illness...

Warning amid ‘unknown’ source of measles infection in Sydney
Health authorities have warned people in a major Aussie city may have been “unknowingly exposed” to a highly contagious disease.

Health authorities have warned Sydneysiders could be unknowingly exposed to measles after someone contracted the contagious disease without any known source of infection.

NSW Health has confirmed someone has become infected with measles despite not attending any exposure sites and not knowingly coming into contact with anyone with measles.

The health body has warned others may have been exposed to measles without realising.

“With the source of the infection unknown, it is likely measles is currently circulating within the community, and other people may have been unknowingly exposed to measles,” the health alert states...

Measles cases almost triple in Australia as global outbreaks continue
                    By Brianna Morris-Grant
                    18 hours ago

The number of measles cases nationwide is now approaching triple the number of cases reported in 2024 as outbreaks continue around the world.

There have now been 168 cases of measles across Australia in 2025, according to the national disease surveillance system.

In 2024, there were just 57.

In 2023, there were 26 cases, and just seven in 2022. In 2021, there were zero cases reported in the entire year, as the COVID-19 pandemic locked down much of the world.

The rise in numbers, experts tell the ABC, comes amid a global surge in measles outbreaks and a national lagging vaccination rate...

An urgent health warning has been issued for dozens of Aussie travellers after a traveller returned from southeast Asia with the measles.

Potential exposure sites include a Garuda Indonesia flight, Australia's busiest airport and a major hospital emergency department waiting room in Sydney's west.

The infected traveller returned on flight GA712 from Jakarta on December 27, which touched down in Sydney at 10.45am.

They were in the international airport arrivals hall until midday.

Two days later, the patient spent 18 hours in the waiting room at Blacktown Hospital's emergency department, from midday on December 29 until 6am the following day.

Health authorities have urged anyone who was on the flight or visited the arrivals hall or Blacktown Hospital at the listed times to remain vigilant for symptoms, which can take up to 18 days to develop...

Sydney Airport’s domestic arrival hall and an interstate flight have been added to the growing list of sites potentially exposed to measles as NSW records its third case.

Visitors to the Qantas arrival hall at Terminal 3 between 10.30-11PM on December 29 and passengers om-board flight QF748 from Adelaide to Sydney arriving at the same time were being urged to monitor for symptoms of the potentially deadly disease.

Anyone who attended Concord Repatriation General Hospital Emergency Department between 1-4.10PM on January 3 were also asked to be on alert.

It comes after a third case of measles was reported in travellers returning to Sydney in the past week after visiting countries in Southeast Asia, where authorities are dealing with ongoing outbreaks of measles...

Australia's most populous city is at risk of a contagious disease outbreak.

NSW Health on Wednesday advised Sydney is at an 'increased risk' of a measles outbreak after 11 cases were recorded in just three weeks.

'As people return from overseas holidays, it is expected that additional cases may be identified,' NSW Health warned.

Measles outbreaks have already been reported in several popular locations for Australian tourists including Bali, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines and Malaysia.

The two latest cases stem from a person returning home from Thailand and a locally contracted case.

'The recently confirmed cases visited many locations across Sydney while unknowingly infectious, including healthcare facilities. These locations do not pose an ongoing risk,' NSW Health said.

NSW Health advised anyone who visited Priceline Pharmacy St Clair between 3pm and 4pm on January 14 or Nepean Hospital Emergency Department from 7.50pm on January 16 to monitor for symptoms...
