MONDOVI, Wis. (WEAU) -- The Mondovi School District is talking with a local health department daily as it tries to stop the spread of Pertussis, or whooping cough.
District Administrator Cheryl Gullicksrud said Tuesday that the district had 16 confirmed cases of the disease. The first case in the district was confirmed nearly two weeks ago. Gullicksrud said it started in one of the classrooms at Mondovi Elementary School, but that the district may never find out the source of the outbreak. As the confirmed cases have popped up in the district, it has sent notes home to parents of students in affected classrooms, posted information to the district's Facebook page, and handed information to district staff.
