CARLSBAD ? Six people, including five children, have been diagnosed with chickenpox at Aviara Oaks Elementary School in Carlsbad, county health officials said Wednesday afternoon.
No one has been hospitalized in the outbreak, said Tom Christensen, a spokesman for the county. But he said the outbreak serves as a reminder for parents to get their children vaccinated.
The Carlsbad children diagnosed with the illness are two 5-year-olds and three 6-year-olds, according to San Diego County Health and Human Services officials. Only one had received the two recommended doses of the varicella vaccine, officials said...
