I find it odd that no where is there any mention in regards to the cases and the closing of one of the Smart Village Schools. Is it because they are owned by the Prime Minister? Last heard, there were at least 9 cases in the Kipling School (which closed last week) and at least 1 case in the Voltaire School (which remains open).

No information, on the net or in the news has been said regarding these 2 schools.

    Odd I think.

I did read something about the smart village and a school with suspect cases.

The ministry of health has asked the media to stop the scare mongering tactics it used recently and to only report released facts.

Things are being way under reported by many schools, my son has a confirmed case in his class room currently and the class is on going. other class rooms in his school are making the same claim of active infections and students absent all based on privet confirmed testing results.

the same is true for my daughters school and nothing has reached the media.

My wife also works in a school and that school/class room only had twelve present today. some for illness and others out of fear. the directors of the schools, are required, based on the ministry of health guide lines. are obligated to report each incidence of suspected infection and or flu like symptoms.many just wont do it for fear of closure and the repercussions that would ensue do to mass panic.

Egypt is currently reviewing its school policy as of today, based on the current who guide lines.

heres a little from the minister today

On the stop or cancel the study, said Dr. Hatem the Minister of Health that stop or cancel the study did not occur anywhere in the globe despite the huge number of casualties that have occurred in many countries.

He explained that "the issue off the study a decision is made at the level of a higher ministerial committee consisting of 9 ministers in the Government on the specific standards related to mortality, the rate of pneumonia is located, and the rate of increase in reported cases", pointing out that these criteria are not fulfilled and that Egypt is very dimension them.

The Minister of Health to the World Health Organization issued new rules to close the schools, adding: "We formed a committee to study it until you see how it applies to us or not, though the conviction of the schools will be closed from one week to ten days."
      I hope this helps.

interesting my wife just called and said they closed the school today until the end of the next holiday. which is over on January 6th. which equals twenty two days.

two other schools in the same area were also closed for the same reason mass infections among the students and staff.all three are in the helwan governorate.

so far (at my wifes school) twenty seven of the the suspect cases, along with some of the random samples which were taken came back positive thus far for H1N1.

H5N1 has been found mainly outside of Cairo.

My attention is the roll out of H1N1 up and down the Nile. I'll check back in 2-3 weeks. I don't think it's a 225 issue in Egypt. It's the worst that exists now, and that's co-infection with H5N1, which will be the petri dish for recombinaton.

All who've been to Egypt know the living conditions of the countryside. The risk is to me worth considering and monitoring.

The tragedy is that the testing of those who die from this will be so marginal, even with WHO trying to get at the bodies fast enough. We watch and wait.

True. And a quick count of the H1N1 deaths by governorates shows that about 25% are from Cairo. H1N1 spreading in the urban areas and H5N1 in the countryside.

My son has school today, as they are trying to recover the lost learning days caused by or related to this influenza issue. He just called, then told me only twelve students were present from his class. which normally numbers twenty three. Of which two have now been confirmed positive by the ministry of health and the school is awaiting the directive to close the classroom or school from the proper Officials. this process has been on going for a few days.

On the issue of H5N1, from all the reported positive cases only four have documents which indicate they are from cairo.that being said from the total thus far fifty one cases have been treated within the area of greator cairo.

The pride that the closure of kindergartens in the past days was the result of lack of commitment to the instructions of the ministry and health requirements set by the Ministry of Health, such as the need for good ventilation, as well as detergents enough.
