Egypt has major problem. They have to increase surveillance for H1N1. However, it is likely that not all of the untypable influenza A positives will be swine H1N1.

What will they do with influenza A positive non-typable samples that are NOT swine H1N1?

القاهرة - محرر مصراوي - أكد البيان الصادر يوم الثلاثاء عن غرفة عمليات إدارة الأزمات بمركز معلومات مجلس الوزراء أنه لاتوجد حتى الآن أية حالة إصابة حيوانية أو بشرية بمرض إنفلونزا الخنازير بجميع المحافظات. أعلنت وزارة الصحة ان حالات الاشتباه بانفلونزا الخنازير بلغت 48 حالة حتي الآن وجاءت النتائج مطمئنة وخالية من الاصابة بالفيروس الوبائي بعد إجراء جميع الفحوصات والتحاليل الطبية.

عبدالرحمن شاهين المستشار الإعلامي لوزير الصحة ان الليلة الماضية كانت هناك 4 حالات اشتباه وهم مدحت آدم وتم حجزه بمستشفي حميات بنها واثنان ايطاليان وهما اميلا كرارا 59 سنة وبرجورجو سانمالا 59 سنة تم حجزهما بمستشفي شرم الشيخ الدولي والحالة الرابعة لشخص يدعي بوشنجان جور من روسيا وتم حجزه بمستشفي حميات العباسية وجاءت التحاليل المعملية لهذه الحالات سلبية من أي اصابة بالفيروس..أضاف ان حالات الاشتباه بمرض انفلونزا الطيور وصلت حتي أمس 44 حالة فقط وجاءت النتائج سلبية أيضاً مشيرا إلي ان الاستفسارات والبلاغات التي تلقاها الخط الساخن أمس علي خط 105 بلغت 1909 ما بين انفلونزا الخنازير والطيور..أشار إلي أنه تم مناظرة 104 طائرات بها 12557 راكباً و5 سفن بها 159 راكباً وسيارة واحدة اضافة إلي مناظرة 225 من القادمين من المنافذ البرية وبذلك يصل اجمالي عدد الركاب القادمين من الدول الموبوءة إلي 35943 راكباً موضحا ان منظمة الصحة العالمية قد أعلنت عن وجود 5251 حالة مؤكدة بالاصابة بفيروس انفلونزا ا لخنازير في 30 دولة علي مستوي العالم توفي منهم 56 بالمكسيك و3 بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وحالة واحدة في كل من كندا وكوستاريكا ليصل إجمالي حالات الوفاة بالمرض إلي 61 حالة.

While there are no confirmed cases of novel (swine) 2009 H1N1 in Egypt, I think we have to assume there are cases due to the fact that Israel has confirmed cases and also in Mexico 1/3 of the cases did not exhibit a fever.

Egypt has issued an Emergency Declaration for their hospitals due to the situation.
