WASHINGTON - Editor Masrawy - revealed the U.S. Department of Agriculture Egypt is one of the top ten markets for U.S. agricultural crops in the world, topped the Arab States and the Middle East in its imports of wheat, corn and soybeans from the United States.
And revealed the latest data issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Egypt replaced the fourth largest importer of wheat from the United States in 2008.
According to data issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Foreign Agriculture said Egypt imported, according to data recorded for the year 2008 a total of 2161 metric tons of wheat from the United States, in 2008, or the equivalent of five and imports the rest of the world outside the top ten markets for U.S. wheat during the same period .
Egypt topped the ranks seventh on the list of top ten importers of U.S. corn, which imported 2438 tons of U.S. corn in 2008, equivalent to one third and also wanted the rest of the world outside of the list.
And replaced Egypt in the seventh rank on the list of the top ten importers of U.S. soybeans in 2008, where it imports amounted to 772 thousand tons or the equivalent of five and the rest of the year, imports from outside the list during the same period.
Overall results showed an increase in Egypt's imports of U.S. agricultural crops in the year 2008 about two hundred and fifty thousand tons of imports in 2007.
Where Egypt's imports rose to 2050 thousand tons of crops in 2008 compared to the U.S. 1801 thousand tons in 2007.
