    SUMMARY OF IMPORTANT EVENTS AS ON 01.07.2010

    RAINFALL/FLOOD SITUATION IN THE COUNTRY

    ASSAM

    ? Moderate to heavy rainfall has been reported in few parts of the State.

    ? About 934,127 people, 1206 villages and 11 districts have been affected.

    ? Total 05 human deaths have been reported in the State so far.

    ? 3615 livestock have perished so far.

    ? 144 boats have been deployed in the affected areas.

    ? 436,800 people have been accommodated in 521 relief camps.

    KERALA

    ? Moderate to heavy rainfall has been reported in few parts of the State.

    ? About 24,363 people, 10 districts & 42 villages have been affected.

    ? Total 37 human deaths have been reported in the State so far.

    ? 14 livestock have perished so far.

    ? 142 fully and 3125 partially houses have been damaged so far.

    ? 215 people have been accommodated in 04 relief camps.

    India Meteorological Department (Major features of weather forecast)

    ? Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers would occur over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, northeastern states, West Bengal & Sikkim, Jharkhand, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

    ? Scattered rain/thundershowers would occur over Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and, Madhya Pradesh.

    ? Isolated rain/thunderstorms would occur over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat state and West Uttar Pradesh.

    CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION (daily water levels and forecasts for level forecast sites)

    ? There are 07 Moderate flood situation sites in the country on 01.07.2010.

    DEPLOYMENT OF NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF)

    ? 09 teams (consisting of 315 personnel) of NDRF have been deployed in Assam - (5), Maharashtra - (3) & Uttarakhand - (1).

              CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION (daily water levels and forecasts for level at forecast sites)
              According to the Central Water Commission (CWC) report dated 4th August, 2010, there are 05 Moderate flood situation sites in the country, as per details given below:-

              Moderate Flood Site

              Assam
              - River Brahmaputra at Dibrugarh is flowing at 104.81m against the danger level of 104.24m with a rising trend.
              - River Dhansiri (S) at Golaghat is flowing at 89.83m against the danger level of 89.50m with a steady trend.
              - River Dhansiri (S) at Numaligarh is flowing at 78.70m against the danger level of 77.42m with a rising trend.
              - River Kushiyara at Karimganj is flowing at 15.05m against the danger level of 14.94m with a rising trend.

              Bihar
              - River Kosi at Basua is flowing at 48.00m against the danger level of 47.75m with a rising trend.


              Comment: 407 people have so far perished and Rs 9.3 billion in damage.

                429 fatalities recorded as of Aug 8th.

                Daily water levels and forecasts for level at forecast sites (CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION)

                According to the Central Water Commission (CWC) report dated 8th August, 2010, there are 06 Moderate flood situation sites in the country, as per details given below:-

                Moderate Flood Site

                Telangana
                - River Godavari at Dummagudam is flowing at 56.23m against the danger level of 55.00m with a falling trend.
                - River Godavari at Bhadrachalam is flowing at 50.60m against the danger level of 48.77m with a falling trend.
                - River Godavari at Kunavaram is flowing at 40.78m against the danger level of 39.24m with a rising trend.

                Assam
                - River Brahmaputra at Dibrugarh is flowing at 104.70m against the danger level of 104.24m with a steady trend.
                - River Dhansiri (S) at Numaligarh is flowing at 77.72m against the danger level of 77.42m with a falling trend.

                Bihar
                - River Kosi at Basua is flowing at 48.19m against the danger level of 47.75m with a falling trend.

                Chhattisgarh
                - River Indravati at Jagdalpur is flowing at 541.76m against the danger level of 540.80m with a falling trend.
