Floods and Landslides Situation Update UN Field Coordination Office Nepalgunj, Nepal
This update was issued by UN Field Coordination Office (UNFCO), Nepalgunj. It covers the period from 16 June to 18 June 2013.
HIGHLIGHTS
Total number of reported deaths due to flooding and landslides in Mid and Western regions has reached 9, with 20 people missing and 1 injured;
Assessment are ongoing, however, estimates suggest approximately 575 families displaced; and over 774families affected;
The damage include: police post, 76 houses, cowsheds, hydropower, roads and crop fields.
Flood related health problem are not seen yet but it will be a major need in post flood situation.
DDRCs in the districts are coordinating for the response.

Locals and security personnel have now been carrying out rescue operation at the incident site.
KALIKOT: Twelve people died and two were injured at Mumra VDC in Kalikot district this morning due to landslides triggered by incessant rainfall for the past three days.

BUTWAL: Hapij Ansari, 55, of Butwal was swept away by the rain-fed Tinau River today. Ansari had gone to the river banks to collect logs when the river swept him away, police said.
Vehicular movement at Siddababa along the Butwal-Palpa road section was obstructed till 1:00 pm due to landslip today.
Days of heavy rainfall has deluged some wards and a few government offices in Rupandehi?s Siddarthanagar Municipality.

Floods, landslides in far-west kill 25, dozens missing, hundreds homeless
By Gokul Niraula, Mahendranagar, June 18: Raging floods in Far-west region caused by three days of continuous heavy downpour has so far killed 25 people, dozens other were missing and hundreds of other people have become homeless Tuesday.
Heavy downpour especially caused severe damaged of lives and properties in Darchula, Kanchanpur and Dadeldhura districts since the start of torrent rains.
In two days, nearly 79 houses including 13 government offices in the district were swept away by Mahakali River in Darchula?s district headquarters Khalanga alone.
