  • HK: Cluster of Influenza A cases in Siu Lam Hospital

    The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

    Regarding recent confirmation of a cluster of patients with Influenza A (Human Swine Influenza) in a female ward for the severely intellectual disabled, the spokesperson for Siu Lam Hospital (SLH) made the following update today (April 21):

    One more patient (aged 33) in the ward had presented with respiratory symptoms. Appropriate viral tests had been arranged for the patient and the test result was positive to Influenza A (Human Swine Influenza). The concerned patient is being treated under isolation with stable condition.

    Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the concerned ward are under close surveillance.

    The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.

    The spokesperson for Siu Lam Hospital made the following announcement today (April 27):

    Four patients (aged 46 to 64) in a female ward for the severely intellectual disabled has presented with respiratory symptoms since April 26. Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patients and their test results were positive for Influenza A (human swine influenza). The concerned patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.

    Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting has been imposed.

    Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance.

    The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.

Appropriate viral tests had been arranged for the patients and their test results were positive to Influenza A. The concerned patients are being treated under isolation and are in stable condition.

      Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting has been imposed.

      Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the concerned ward are under close surveillance.

      The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.

        Regarding recent confirmation of some patients infected with Influenza A in a male ward for the severely intellectual disabled, a spokesperson for Siu Lam Hospital (SLH) made the following update today (June 16):

        One more 53-year-old patient in the ward had presented with respiratory symptoms. Appropriate viral tests had been arranged for the patient and his test result was positive to Influenza A. The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition.

        Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting has been imposed.

        Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the concerned ward are under close surveillance.

        The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
