A 32-year-old man was seriously ill and in a coma
and stayed in the Ruijin ICU for 17 consecutive days. Both lungs were completely white...
Recently, a 32-year-old healthy male patient in Shanghai was rushed to the emergency department of Jiading Branch of Ruijin Hospital by 120 for "fever with cough and sputum for 1 day". Emergency examination showed positive for influenza A, and the pulse oxygen was only 54% (normal value is 95%~100%). His condition deteriorated rapidly and he fell into a coma. CT showed that his lungs were "white lungs", and a total of 5 organs were affected!

Combined with the patient's medical history, laboratory and auxiliary examinations, the patient was diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia (severe) caused by influenza A virus , acute respiratory distress syndrome (severe) and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (a total of 5 organs). After endotracheal intubation, the man was admitted to the intensive care unit.
Faced with the patient's critical condition, doctors decided to use VV-ECMO as the most effective and key measure to improve hypoxia and hypercapnia and allow the lungs to rest.
Netizens are already very familiar with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), which is the last line of defense to save patients' lives. It is divided into two modes: VV-ECMO and VA-ECMO .
- VV-ECMO is mainly used for patients with simple respiratory failure. Venous blood is drained to the extracorporeal blood for oxygenation through a pump and then reinjected into the venous system. It is simple and safe to operate and mainly provides respiratory support.
- VA-ECMO is suitable for patients with circulatory failure. It injects oxygenated blood into the arterial system. It is powerful and can provide both circulatory and respiratory support, but it is complex to operate and is suitable for patients with more serious conditions.
After 9 days of treatment by the medical team , the man's lung infection was gradually controlled, his oxygenation index gradually improved, and he was successfully evacuated from VV-ECMO . After 12 days , the patient was successfully removed from the machine and transferred to a non-invasive ventilator. After 17 days of treatment, the patient was finally successfully transferred out of the intensive care unit .
A woman had a high fever of 39.7℃ for 3 days
and had some "white lungs"
Ms. Cheng (pseudonym), 39 years old, from Zhejiang
I also encountered a similar critical illness!
On the eve of the Spring Festival, Ms. Cheng suddenly felt body aches and chills, so she took cold medicine in the hope of relieving the symptoms. However, the opposite happened. Her temperature rose rapidly, and she also developed coughing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, palpitations and other discomfort symptoms. She went to the fever clinic of Hangzhou Third People's Hospital and was diagnosed with influenza A virus with mild pneumonia .
Thinking of her children at home and the work at hand, she declined the doctor's suggestion of further hospitalization and chose to take oral medication and go home for observation.
However, after three days of hard work , Ms. Cheng kept coughing during a work meeting, and her severe breathing difficulties made it impossible for her to concentrate on her work. When she took her temperature, it was 39.7℃! Her colleagues saw this and sent her to the hospital again. The chief physician of the respiratory department who received her learned that she still had repeated fevers and coughed up thick yellow sputum after taking Sufuda orally to fight the influenza virus, so he immediately arranged for relevant examinations.

As a result, the situation worsened further: "white lung" phenomenon appeared in several lobes of the lungs, the fingertip blood oxygen saturation was only 88%, and the blood myocardial enzyme spectrum, troponin indicators, and liver function indicators also showed obvious abnormalities.
Ms. Cheng was immediately hospitalized for treatment. The hospital's respiratory team quickly developed a personalized diagnosis and treatment plan, and seven days later, Ms. Cheng recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
Don’t delay! More contagious, more severe symptoms
Young people can also be struck down by the flu
Doctors say
Flu is not just a stronger version of the common cold
Don't rely on your youth
Or usually in good health
I just put it off and didn't go to the doctor.
The flu is cunning because it can penetrate the body's defense system in many ways, especially among young people, where certain lifestyles and social behaviors may provide opportunities for the flu to take advantage. So young people must not take it lightly.
Once influenza is diagnosed, active antiviral treatment is required. The best time window for influenza treatment is generally within 48 hours after fever.
Xiaofang also reminds everyone again
↓↓↓
Flu is not a "bad cold"
It's not about taking some medicine and taking a rest.
You can recover
Once you have flu-like symptoms such as fever and cough
Seek medical attention promptly without delay
