Monitoring data from disease control departments show that human adenovirus infection has recently fluctuated and increased, and is more common among children and adolescents aged 0 to 10 years old. Liu Gang said that there is currently no "specific" antiviral drug or treatment for human adenovirus infection, and symptomatic and supportive treatment is the main treatment. Antibiotics such as azithromycin are ineffective against simple human adenovirus infection. When there is evidence of combined bacterial infection, the doctor will consider whether antibiotics are needed based on the child's condition.
Experts said that from clinical observation, most children infected with human adenovirus have mild symptoms, which are self-limiting and will not cause severe illness or complications. If the child's temperature exceeds 38.5℃, antipyretics can be taken symptomatically and scientifically, supplemented by physical cooling; if there is secretion causing nasal congestion, the nasal cavity can be cleaned with physiological sea salt water; if coughing and sputum occur, symptomatic atomization and expectorant drugs can be taken under the guidance of a doctor.
