To effectively strengthen awareness of cholera and various diarrheal diseases prevention and control, improve the emergency treatment and handling capabilities of medical staff, standardize the response procedures for sudden outbreaks, and ensure the scientific and orderly implementation of cholera and diarrheal disease prevention and control work, the Fifth People's Hospital of Jinan City, affiliated with the Second Medical University of Shandong Province, recently organized an emergency drill for the prevention and control of suspected cholera. Liu Liyan, member of the Party Committee and Vice President, participated in the drill and directed it on-site.
This drill was organized by the Department of Public Health, with collaborative participation from multiple departments including the Department of Infectious Diseases, the Diarrhea Clinic, the Department of Pediatrics, the Department of Laboratory Medicine, the Department of Emergency Medicine, the Department of Medical Affairs, the Department of Nursing, the Infection Control Office, the Outpatient Department, and the Security Department. To ensure a tight and smooth workflow, the Department of Public Health prepared in advance, completing tasks such as developing a plan and rehearsing procedures. Before the drill began, Vice President Liu Liyan delivered a mobilization speech, emphasizing the importance of the drill and setting strict requirements for the participants. She then led all participants in reviewing the entire drill process, discussing each step, and clarifying the responsibilities and collaboration mechanisms for each position, laying a solid foundation for the smooth progress of the drill.
This drill simulated the entire process of a diarrhea patient visiting a diarrhea clinic, covering all aspects including triage, admission, testing, rapid diagnosis, consultation, reporting, observation, treatment, and online reporting. The security department maintained timely vigilance, ensuring that the drill was conducted with sufficient evidence, clear division of labor, and everyone fulfilling their responsibilities in an orderly manner. All participants were serious and meticulous, successfully completing all stages of the drill.
After the drill, Vice Dean Liu Liyan summarized and commented on the entire process and effect of the drill. She believed that the drill was orderly, smooth, rigorous and complete. She affirmed that each participant was able to handle the situation in a standardized manner, react quickly, respond effectively and report in a timely manner. She also raised higher requirements for certain details.
This practical exercise effectively tested the practicality and operability of the emergency plan, demonstrated the ability of medical staff to coordinate and cooperate closely in the face of a sudden epidemic, and showcased their teamwork spirit in emergency response. It also enhanced the staff's awareness and ability to prevent and control cholera and diarrhea, laying a solid foundation for the hospital's cholera and diarrhea prevention and control work.
