    At 10 a.m., the Department of Pediatric Ophthalmology at the Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University was bustling with parents and children seeking medical treatment, including many families who had traveled from various cities and prefectures.
    Parent: "We came from Zhaotong. Since the children were on holiday, we thought it would be less crowded on Monday, so we brought them here as soon as possible."
    Reporters noted that the children seeking treatment ranged in age from preschoolers to junior and senior high school students, mostly coming to the hospital for nearsightedness. Doctors explained that the number of outpatients had surged since last week, and the hospital had made preparations in advance, optimizing its procedures to improve patient efficiency.


    Xue Liping, chief physician of pediatric ophthalmology at the Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University: "We have triage nurses who pre-order examinations. This is the result of years of practice. Our triage nurses are also trained to know which patients should have which examinations, and which examinations should be done for first-time patients. After the patients have completed the examinations, they can directly take the results to the doctor without wasting a lot of time."
    During the winter break, all eight clinics in the Department of Pediatric Ophthalmology at the Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University were open, with each doctor seeing an average of 120 to 140 patients per day. For parents and children from other cities and prefectures who came to Kunming but couldn't get an appointment yet were due for a follow-up visit, doctors would add extra appointments as needed while ensuring the quality of care.

These extra appointments are placed in examination room number 3 every day. Doctors put all the extra appointments they can into examination room number 3 every day."
