We should for a while to forget epidemiological and virological considerations about recent spike in bird flu human cases in China.

There is another point that is worth of our attention.

Is China sending signals to another Nation?

Is China at this point of its story ready to cooperate in a different way with another Nation?

                Is this Nation Obama's USA?

I think it is possible that the stream of information - almost unprecedented for China at least in recent months about health incidents (melammine, hfmd, influenza, etc.) - is 'per se' signalling a change in chinese policies.

you may be right they may want to tell us about stuff going on in their country. if that's true then that would be fantastic. after all china is where this disease started, so it is only natural to assume that they may have had several cases a year and only told us about a few. this may be a new china we are looking at here. the biggest indicator for me that they may have a change in policy is that their state news media is reporting these cases. they in the past would never in the past have done such a thing like this. normally we would get local media reports but the bulk of these are coming directly from the goverment itself. so we may have a new beginning from china. one thing to consider is that we have new president obama and people from the around the world seem to like him so far so that could also be another factor.
