Pernambuco recorded, in the first four months of 2022, a 45.9% increase in notifications of suspected cases of people with diseases transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits dengue, zika and chikungunya, compared to the previous year (see video above) .
The state had a growth of 77.2% of suspected cases of chikungunya and 39.3% of dengue in the period. Of the three diseases, only Zika had a drop in notifications compared to 2021 (see numbers in the table below).
The data, released by the State Department of Health (SES) on Tuesday (10), are from the 17th epidemiological week, which ended on April 30, until when 27,272 cases of the three diseases were reported. In the same period of 2021, there were 18,690 notifications of the three diseases.
The state has already had 2,831 confirmations of people with arboviruses, 1,212 with dengue, 1,619 with chikungunya and none with zika over the first four months of 2022.
The g1 asked SES about the number of confirmations in the previous year, but received no response until the last update of this report.
In 2022, 19 suspected deaths of people with arboviruses have already been reported, with no confirmations or discarded cases. In the same period of 2021, 15 suspicious deaths were reported, 7 of which were discarded, according to the secretary.
A new survey of the risk of mosquito infestation has not yet been carried out. According to March data, 29 of the 184 municipalities were at risk of an arbovirus outbreak, Recife among them, and 100 were on alert. Another 53 had a satisfactory situation and two did not send data to the SES.
The state is in the rainy season and, therefore, it is necessary to be alert to avoid the proliferation of the mosquito. The manager of Environmental Surveillance of Recife, Vânia Nunes, pointed out that the month of May has been marked by night rains and, therefore, it is important to check in the morning places where water can accumulate (see video above).
"We need to inspect all the deposits that can accumulate water. If it's a bucket, we need to brush it", warned Vânia Nunes.
To report possible mosquito outbreaks in the capital, people can call the municipal ombudsman of the Unified Health System (SUS), by phone 0800 2811520.
The municipal administration also makes the platform let's take care of yourself against the mosquito available on the website or on the ConectaRecife app. Through the internet, it is possible to trigger environmental surveillance, using geolocation.
